Hello,
I am Holger from the German diving group "Gezeitentaucher".
We are searching for ship wrecks in the north sea around the island Norderney. We don't take any artefacts or something fom the wrecks.
Our target is to identify the ship and find out what happened.
Please refer http://gezeitentaucher.de/?p=1143 for more details.
Now we found a new wreck: A steam tug (Stoomsleepboot). And after studying different types of tugs, I think it was built in the Netherlands.
The tow hook (Trekhaak) is very different to German types.
What I know:
- Steam machine 3 zylinders
- one boiler - coal
- 20m lenght (over all)
- 4,4 - 4,6m wide
- the bollards in the stern were upright (I saw many photos where they were 45°)
What I think:
- Bridge behind the chimney (schoorsteen) -> I found the tooth gear of the steering between boiler and machine
I am searching since days in archives for a lost tug in the north sea, but without success.
Maybe someone can give us some hints where to search or maybe even someone would help for searching.
I tried the newspaper archive:
https://nha.courant.nu/ but the language is difficult for me.
Regards,
Holger
